This week we got POURED on. It was crazy. We got caught right in the middle of it too! It was really crazy. In some areas the water was up to people’s waists. There was really bad flooding, and the tunnel back to our house got blocked, so on Wednesday we had to trek around the city to cross on the bridge instead… Sheesh! We were actually outside during the worst part because we just had district meeting, and we went out to try this one hamburger place in the city center. It was some of the heaviest rain I’ve seen! The drains didn’t work too well either… Needless to say we got SOAKED!
One annoying thing that happened this week was while we were out whiteboarding, a group of little kids came up and started bugging us. They kept trying to erase the whiteboard and stuff. We had half a mind to toss them all into the harbor, but we maintained our dignity and kept going. 😉
Other than that, it was a pretty calm week. We had some very strange, very strange appointments, but they’re probably stories to save for after the mission. 🙂 Sheesh. The mission keeps you on your toes! We’re going to play some more basketball today for P-day. The Anziani from Lecce are going to come play with us. Our appointment with Snake man didn’t go through because his snake got sick and he had to take it to the vet. Soon, though! Maybe this week.
We’re having a grand old time. We’ve found some cool new people this week! I feel like Italy might be one of the few places where you’ll pass one person, they’ll be Catholic, the next one will be evangelist, the next one will be a Jehovah’s Witness, the next one Orthodox, the next one Buddhist, and then the next one Mormon. Fun times!
There’s one older American lady named Sister Jones (no joke) who lives out here. She invited us over this Friday for an early Thanksgiving meal because she’ll be going to Texas to pass the holidays, and she won’t be here. We’ll be eating good!! We’re super excited!
Glad the Cougars are doing well! The schedule looks good for next year!
Ciao for now!
Craig didn’t say anything about the pictures he sent this week, so I’m doing my best to put captions on them, but I don’t know where these top two pictures were taken.
This appears to be the entrance to the burger joint Craig mentioned, but I’m glad they printed the sign in English because that hot dog might have confused me.
The entrance to the tunnel that was blocked off due to flooding.
When I first saw this picture, I thought it looked as though Craig was excited about the flood.
And then this picture of him giving a thumbs up confirmed it. He’s still a kid at heart!
Even more flooding!
The entrance to the tunnel after the flood waters receded.
The inside of the tunnel after the flood.
Craig with Anziano Robison. We still don’t have a picture of Craig with his new companion, Anziano Blair. I’ll ask again next week.
